[Dongfeng's Solid-State Battery to Be Installed in Vehicles by 2026]Jun Wang, general manager of Dongfeng Eπ Technology, stated that Dongfeng's solid-state battery will be installed in vehicles by 2026, featuring an energy density of 350 Wh/kg, a driving range exceeding 1,000 km, and a mileage retention rate of over 70% at -30°C. Meanwhile, the high-end intelligent full-size SUV jointly developed by Eπ Technology and Huawei is also expected to hit the market in 2026. (Cailian Press)

[Implementation Rules for Power Supply Certification Released, Effective from August 15]According to CCTV reporters from the National Certification and Accreditation Administration, to strengthen the mandatory product certification management of power supplies, lithium-ion batteries, and battery packs, the administration has formulated the "Implementation Rules for Mandatory Product Certification: Power Supplies, Lithium-Ion Batteries and Battery Packs (Trial)." The new rules will take effect on August 15, 2025. Relevant designated certification bodies must develop corresponding certification implementation details based on the new rules and the general implementation rules for mandatory product certification, and submit them to the National Certification and Accreditation Administration for record before conducting certification and issuing certificates under the new rules. Previously issued valid mandatory product certification certificates can continue to be used, with the transition of certification certificates to be completed through natural processes such as certificate renewal upon expiry, product changes, and standard updates. [BYD: July Auto Sales at 344,296 Units, Down 8.8% MoM]BYD announced that its July auto sales reached 344,296 units, down 8.8% MoM, compared to 342,383 units in the same period last year. Passenger vehicle sales totaled 341,030 units, including 177,887 pure electric passenger vehicles and 163,143 plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles. Cumulative auto sales from January to July reached 2.49 million units, up 27% YoY. (Cailian Press)

[Guizhou: Full Push for Trade-In of Major Consumer Goods]The General Office of the Guizhou Provincial People's Government released the "Implementation Plan for Guizhou Province's Consumer Stimulus Action" on August 1. The plan emphasizes a full push for trade-in of major consumer goods. It calls for utilizing funds from ultra-long-term special government bonds to vigorously promote vehicle scrappage, replacement updates, and trade-in programs for home appliances, furniture, and digital products, while optimizing subsidy application and disbursement processes. Strengthening fund supervision and auditing, and cracking down on fraudulent transactions to obtain subsidies. Supporting projects for the recycling and dismantling of scrapped vehicles, home appliances, and agricultural machinery, and developing a model of "fine dismantling + efficient circulation of recycled parts."Standardize the treatment of hazardous substances in scrap products and improve the recycling system for renewable resources. [Japanese Government and Auto Industry Exchange Views on US Tariffs] According to a report by Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) on July 31, cited by CCTV News, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba met with representatives from several Japanese auto industry groups to exchange views on the Japan-US tariff agreement. The auto industry groups requested government support for supply chains and policies to stimulate domestic demand. Masanori Katayama, Chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association and President of Isuzu Motors, expressed hope for continued dialogue between Japan and the US to further reduce tariffs. Kyodo News reported that the Japanese auto industry considers the 15% tariff rate still too high compared to the 2.5% rate before Trump took office. (Cailian Press)
